Core facility EPR - Istituto Superiore di Sanità

The EPR group of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, in Rome, is part of the ISS Core Facilities which offers open access to instruments for internal and external research groups. 

Expertise: Biological and biophysical topics, with particular expertise on radiation induced radicals, oxidative stress, metal proteins and membrane studies. 

Equipments: CW X- and Q-band with variable temperature control.

The EPR group works at Advanced Technologies Network (ATeN) Center of Palermo and is open to research collaborations and offers services for internal and external research groups. 

Expertise: Effect of ionizing radiations on matter, radiation dosimetry and analysis of superparamagnetic nanosystems for theranostic applications. 

Equipments: CW X- and Q-band and pulsed X- and Q- band with variable temperature control.

The EPR laboratory at the University of Siena is part of the Department of Biotechnology, Chemistry and Pharmacy

Expertise of the EPR group: Biophysical and biological topics, metalloproteins, enzymatic catalytic intermediates studies, antimicrobial peptides and membranes, antioxidant activity, agritech matrices

Equipment: Bruker Elexsys E 580 CW: X-band, S-band, Q-band. Pulse: Q-band, PELDOR/DEER,                      

                     Variable T control = 4-300 K

The research activity focuses on the application of Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy in the field of solid state chemistry of inorganic materials and metal oxides, with emphasis on the elucidation of structure - property relationships and surface reaction mechanisms in heterogeneous catalysis and photoactive materials.
